Let Us Introduce Ourselves

Teenagers of today are intelligent, valuable, and have great potential -- just like every generation before them. But they grow up in a world filled with evil, with hurt, with pain. They have opportunity to do well - or to do wrong.

When a child becomes a teenager (and sometimes even earlier) they are assaulted with decisions. Will I be kind, or cruel? Will I work toward positive goals, or give up and not care? Will I do drugs? Sleep with my girl/guy friend? Finish school? What will my religion be? Where will my life head? What will I esteem, and what will I devalue (money, God, family, occult, peers,…).

Youth For Christ is a ministry dedicated to practically love teens where they are. We go to their world. We deal with issues they are involved with. And we share with them positive opportunity and direction.

Teens need to grow up in a balanced way, like Jesus did:

And Jesus grew
in wisdom -- mentally
and stature -- physically
and in favor with God -- spiritually
and men -- socially
(Luke 2: 52, see also Romans 12: 1-2)

YFC encourages teens to stick with school, to better themselves, to make the positive choices needed to build a life. Physically, socially, mentally they need encouragement.

The fourth part of the "balanced life" is often neglected - the spiritual. Youth For Christ is deeply concerned about the spiritual welfare of teens. They certainly need to make positive choices in physical, social and mental areas of life. But that pales in significance to the opportunity teens have of beginning new lives through Jesus Christ. Ultimately, they need an eternal friend, not just a teen program and a positive influence.

In the final analysis, Youth For Christ is impacting teens by giving them friendships, hope, and a future with the God who loves them.

One final thought: "YFC" is not merely a group of paid professional youth workers. YFC would not be what it is today without the financial donations, prayers and the many volunteer members of YFC who labor week after week. YFC is a team.
